Gerard Piqué was the player chosen to speak to the media this Saturday, ahead of the Spanish Super Cup game against Sevilla in Tangier.
In his Q&A session, he insisted that Sunday's opposition "are doing things very well and are very competitive."
Asked about his appointment as third captain for FC Barcelona, Piqué responded that "I am very happy to be one of the club captains. Now it's time to continue winning trophies with Barça."
"The training sessions that we've had (since returning from the summer break) have shown the high level of the players who have come in," he continued. "The signings have been good and we have a very competitive team."
Piqué also reiterated his decision to retire from international football, revealing that he had spoken with new Spain coach -and former Barça boss- Luis Enrique.
"It's a decision that I thought about a lot. It was a good time for me (with Spain) and I'm very happy to have participated in all of the success that was achieved."
