One of three finalists for the Golden Boy this year, FC Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé is nominated for the award along with Gabriel Jesús (Manchester City) and Kylian Mbappé (Monaco / PSG).
Scoring 10 goals and providing 22 assists at Borussia Dortmund last season has served to endorse that nomination and recognise the ability that saw him tracked by many of the great European clubs before Barça secured his signature.
Initially at Rennes in Ligue 1, Dembélé’s continued good form saw him head to the Bundesliga where his star continued to rise. Now at FC Barcelona, he is surrounded by the best players in the world.
He has played three games so far. A La Liga debut against Espanyol, in the Champions League against Juventus, as well as at Getafe where he unfortunately suffered an injury that continues to keep him out of Ernesto Valverde’s matchday squads.
The Golden Boy is a prize given by the Italian newspaper 'Tuttosport' since 2003, and the award is for the best European player under 21 years of age.
