The goal against Betis means that the Uruguayan's name is added to a list that already included Messi, Rakitic, Mathieu and Neymar - members of the first team that have scored from direct free-kicks

Luis Suárez’s goalscoring instinct is clearly still intact. He showed that by opening the scoring against Sevilla in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup, and then scored a hat-trick in Barça’s first Liga fixture of the new season, a 6-2 defeat of Betis.
That’s 88 goals that the Uruguayan has now scored for the club. But one thing he had never done at Barça was score from a direct free kick. He has now, and it was a real belter!
The main reason why it took him so long is, of course, the fact that the Barça ranks include one of the greatest free-kick takers you’ll ever see, Leo Messi, who has scored no fewer than 23 for Barça.
But the Argentinian is not the only member of the current squad to have found the net for the team from a direct free. Neymar Jr has done it twice (Sevilla and Atlético Madrid in La Liga), and Ivan Rakitic (Huesca, Copa del Rey) and Jeremy Mathieu (Elche, Copa del Rey) have one each. Not forgetting that Denis Suárez also scored from a free-kick in a second division match against Tenerife when playing for Barça B.
