Following the game in Qatar on Tuesday, Luis Enrique gave his squad a two day break. FC Barcelona got back to work on Friday with all the available first team players training on the Tito Vilanova pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper ahead of the Barcelona derby on Sunday.
Barça face city rivals Espanyol in the last Liga fixture of 2016 in a game which will give Luis Enrique's team a chance to put pressure on Real Madrid at the top of the table as the leaders are otherwise engaged with Club World Cup commitments. Barça is playing well and the team showed its quality with a convincing 3-0 victory against Osasuna in Pamplona in the last league game.
Luis Enrique's team wants to finish the year on a high and is looking to beat Espanyol in the Barcelona derby and win against Hércules next Wednesday in order to progress into the next round of the Copa del Rey. Tomorrow, the squad will finish preparing for the derby with a training session and, following this, Luis Enrique will give a press conference before Sunday's big game.
