FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid played out a 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou on Wednesday, in a hard fought game which allowed little room for creative freedom.
However, as well as just the two goals, the match produced plenty of other stats and facts of note. Here is a selection of the best ones:
-
Ivan Rakitic scored the opening goal of the game for the eleventh time as a Barça player. The Croatian midfielder has found the net 19 times for the club in total.
-
Jan Oblak in the Atlético goal made six saves to deny Barça, while Ter Stegen at the other end was forced into three stops.
-
Barça made 719 passes compared to 306 from the visitors. Luis Enrique’s men had a pass accuracy rate of 84% while Atlético’s was 75%.
- Gerard Piqué made the most passes in the match (96) while for Atlético, Gabi completed 41.
-
The two captains, Iniesta and Gabi, recuperated possession more than anybody else, with ten each.
-
Out of the 17 fouls that Barça won, Neymar was on the receiving end of eight of them
-
Barça had 19 attempts on Oblak’s goal, as Messi and Neymar had five each. Griezmann and Carrasco had the most shots for Simeone’s side, with two each out of the team’s nine.
-
The two goalscorers were efficient in their approach: Rakitic scored one from two attempts while Correa scored with his only shot.
- Sergi Roberto attempted the most cross from the right flank (6), followed by Neymar (4), Iniesta (3), Jordi Alba and Filipe Luis (2).
-
Despite being taken off on 59 minutes with a groin strain, Leo Messi managed 21 passes, more than 10 out of Atleti’s 14 players who competed.
