Barça B’s clash against Girona started at a frenetic pace with early half chances at both ends.
The hosts’ first goal, when it arrived on 11 minutes, was expertly steered into the top corner by Vitinho. A pin-point defence-splitting pass allowed the striker to accelerate beyond the three covering defenders before his accomplished finish. Shortly after, a carbon copy was foiled but just before the half hour, another fine effort saw the lead increased.
Carles Pérez, after a strong run from deep inside his own half, took advantage of a slip by the last defender to entice Girona’s keeper off of his line and slip the ball past him as he looked to spread himself. Before the break, a back pass and attempted clearance fell kindly to Girona’s Soni who made no mistake, halving the deficit.
Continuing on the front foot at the beginning of the second half, a long-range effort from Andzouana tied the scores on the hour. The game remained competitive right until the end, both teams searching for a winner that never came.
