FC Barcelona announced on Monday they had come to terms on a two-year deal that will bring Andalusian forward Ignacio Abeledo to Barça B. The forward's contract runs until 30 June 2019. Abeledo passed his physical and will be available to start the preseason under the orders of head coach Gerard López.
The 20-year-old striker played for the Real Betis reserve squad last season. He also made his first team debut.
Abeledo has also appeared for Spain's Under-17 and Under-18 national teams.
Here are the highlights of what Abeledo had to say after signing the deal with FC Barcelona:
"I'm left-footed, I'm a north-south player, I shoot well and I can score."
"My challenge is to help the team as much as possible so we can earn promotion to the Second Division this season and to get some minutes with the first team."
"I knew Gerard from his time on the team in my town, in Huelva, but today I was talking to him and the truth is that he seems to be very close to his players. I can't wait to start."
"I had a little problem with Twitter when I was a kid and I wasn’t aware of what could happen, and some mistakes were made that have been fixed and resolved."
