The end of an era as Pablo Álvarez's 10 years as a blaugrana comes to an end. The player's contract with FC Barcelona ends on 30 June and both parties have been unable to come up with an agreement for an extension to that contract. The Club wishes to thank Pablo Álvarez for his efforts during the last decade and wishes him all the best for the future.
34 year old Álvarez came to Barça in 2011 and since then he has one of the team's main goalscorers. Amongst his many honours are 31 league titles, four Bolas de Oro as league top scorer and an MVP award from the cup in 2016.
In his final season as a blaugrana, the 'killer' from San Juan in Argentina scored 46 goals in 38 games. Álvarez was fourth top scorer in the league with 37 goals which leaves him as the all time leading scorer in the competition in the modern age on 551 goals.
