Raphinha and Ferran Torres (2) scored the goals as FC Barcelona beat last season's Champions League finalists at their own Signal Iduna Park, a result that moves the Catalans up to second place in the 36-team table with just two games to go.
Games like that warrant deeper analysis, so here we go:
Five in a row
Barça have now won five games in a row in the Champions League, the first time they have done that since 2020/21, when Ronald Koeman was in charge of a perfect group stage until his team tumbled to 3-0 defeat in the final game away to Juventus.
First win in Dortmund
Barça had met Borussia Dortmund eight times in the past, four friendlies and four competitive matches, and had never lost. However, this was the first time they actually beat them at their home ground. Both in he 1997/98 European Super Cup and in the 2019/20 Champions League, the Catalans won their game at Camp Nou and drew on their trips to Germany.
End of the German curse
Barça had not won a game on German soil since 28 September 2016, when Arda Turan and Gerard Piqué scored in a 2-1 victory at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Barça have been back eight times since then, and this was the first win.
Defeat of last year's finalist
It was also the first time since 2016/17 that Barça has won away to one of the teams that had played in the final of the previous edition. That was the year that the Catalans toppled defending champions Real Madrid to the tune of an incredible 4-0 win at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Top scorers
Barça can boast the biggest goal tally out of all 36 teams in this season's Champions League. They have netted 21 times in six games, three more than Borussia Dortmund (18) and four more than Bayern Munich (17). Barça also have the tournament's highest goalscorer so far, Robert Lewandowski with seven.
