A new record for Gerard Piqué. His goal against PSV on Wednesday night was his 11th for FC Barcelona in the Champions League, one more than Ronald Koeman scored in the competition (counting the former European Cup).
That makes him Barça’s highest scoring defender of all time in Europe’s premier club competition.
Curiously, of those 11 goals, last night’s was only the second to be scored outside of the Camp Nou.
Counting the two goals he scored for Manchester United, he is now the third highest goalscoring defender in the history of the competition, and is closing in fast on Iván Helguera (15) and Roberto Carlos (16).
