FC Barcelona summer signing Malcom got his first taste of football at the Camp Nou on Wednesday evening, and the occasion could hardly have gone better. The Brazilian scored the opening goal of the Joan Gamper Trophy Game, and he spoke after the match to give his thoughts on a successful unofficial home debut.
"Experiencing the Camp Nou is a dream," he said. "Playing in front of the fans here makes me very content and very happy."
"I'm also very pleased with how the team have welcomed me since day one. I'm sure to grow as a player when surrounded by this wonderful team," Malcom continued.
"I'm very happy to be able to play alongside Leo Messi, and I'm very grateful to him for the assist for my goal."
Valverde: "I have a very good feeling ahead of the LaLiga season'
Coach Ernesto Valverde talked to the media shortly afterwards for his post-match press conference, and explained that "this has been an atypical preseason and the players have been gradually joining up with the squad, but I wanted everyone to get minutes today."
"It was a party for our fans and they enjoyed the goals. It was also a good game for our preparations and for us to find out where we are. I have a very good feeling ahead of the start of the LaLiga season," commented the Barça boss.
"We have a lot of options with Messi, and he can play both inside or on the flank. Malcom plays well on both sides, and he's got a good shot on him. As for Rafinha: I'm happy that he's part of the team."
