Wow! That was some start to Barça’s bid for a 22nd European League title! The Palau Blaugrana was treated to an absolute humdinger of a display, and no fewer than fourteen goals to enjoy, as Hockey Bassano were coolly dispatched in the opening fixture of the 2016/17 edition.
With Porto and Merignac having drawn 1-1 in the group’s other fixture, it means the Blaugrana go straight to the top of the Group B table.
It took just 17 seconds for Matías Pascual to opening the scoring, and after six minutes further goals from Pablo Álvarez and Panadero made it clear that this was going to be a miserable afternoon for the Italians.
It was pretty much plain sailing from then on, with the goals flying in from all angles, including a mighty five from Pablo Álvarez and another four courtesy of Lucas Ordoñez.
