Arda Turan recorded his first ever hat-trick as a Barça player on Tuesday and, even more impressively, he managed the feat in just 17 minutes. Between minutes 50 and 67, the Turkish international beat Borussia Mönchengladbach keeper Yann Sommer on no less than three occasions, adding to the goal he scored against the same side in Germany when Barça took all three points in their first meeting in the group stage.
Arda Turan now has found the net on 8 occasions this season, taking his total to10 as a blaugrana. His hat-trick against ‘Gladbach is his first for Barça, previously he had scored two in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla.
However, it is not the first time that Arda has taken home the match ball in his professional career. Back in May 2008, he notched up a hat trick in Galatasaray’s 5-3 away win at Sivasspor.
Turan becomes the third Turkish player to score three times in the same Champions League game after Tuncay Sanli and Burak Yilmaz.
