FC Barcelona will play Espanyol in the Barcelona derby at the Camp Nou on Sunday. This game is always highly-charged and intense due to the long-standing rivalry between the two teams. Andrés Iniesta is about to take part in his 28th derby against Espanyol and he is still raring to go. “It is always special to play in a derby match as they are different types of games. I have played in them since I was twelve and I have lived for these games for a long time, even more so as a professional,” said Barça's captain to Barça TV. Iniesta was speaking at an event in which he spoke to some children about his new book La jugada de mi vida.
Asked about Espanyol's impressive form coming into this game, the Barça midfielder commented, “the start to the Liga wasn't what they expected but they have been defending well and it will be difficult.” Before adding, “a derby is always different and we will try and play well at home and we have a good chance of winning.”
Iniesta also spoke of his need to “get back into the rhythm of the games and competing at the highest level.” He seems to have achieved this judging by the excellent form he has shown since his comeback from an injury sustained in October. Barça's number '8' wants to remain a part of the team for years to come: “I still feel like I am an important part of this Barça team and I hope it lasts for many years to come.”
