The Camp Nou is a sanctuary for blaugranas and in the next league match against Sevilla the Catalans could secure their 800th home Liga victory. Since Barça’s current stadium was inaugurated almost sixty years ago the fans have witnessed 1,056 first division matches and have been able to celebrate a win in 75.66% of them. That translates into 799 wins, 164 draws and 93 defeats.
Barça have played a total of 1,515 games across all competitions at the stadium. The Catalans have played 168 Copa del Rey games,140 European Cup and Champions League games as well as Spanish and European Supercup fixtures, League Cups and many other fixtures.
A match which stands out is the Inter-Citiies Fairs Cup Trophy Play-Off Match in which the first ever winners FC Barcelona and the last ever winners Leeds United played a one-off game to see who would retain permanent possession of the Fairs Cup Trophy. Barça won the match 2-1 in 1971 at the Camp Nou.
Across all competitions Barça have won 1,131 matches at the Camp Nou, drawn 241 times and been defeated on only 143 occasions. These are impressive statistics which will continue to improve this season as there are still five home league fixtures to come and at least one but potentially two Champions League matches to play. The next win at the Camp Nou will be the 800th league win and it could come as soon as 5 April as Sevilla are in town to face the blaugranas at 7.30pm CET.
