FC Barcelona Women earned a comfortable 2-0 away at Albacete on Saturday to remain hot on the heels of league leaders Atlético Madrid.
Xavi Llorens’ side dominated the first half and finally got their reward on 39 minutes. Bàrbara Latorre sent in a cross from out wide which landed perfectly at the feet of Jenni Hermoso, who headed the ball in for 1-0.
Barça’s dominance continued into the second period but looked unable to get the goal that would have killed the game. Marta Unzué hit a rasping effort from outside the box but was cruelly denied by the cross bar on 69 minutes.
Then, on 82 minutes, Bàrbara suffered the same misfortune as she too was denied by the woodwork from her effort one-on-one with the keeper.
Nevertheless, the second goal finally arrived deep into added time through Jenni once again, giving Barça another valuable win to remain four points behind leaders Atlético.
