Kheira Hamraoui is the second new addition to the Barça women’s team for Barça Femení 2018/19, following on from the already announced Stefanie Van der Gragt. The 28-year-old French international will be signing until 2020 in her first foreign adventure.
She was won the European and French double in her two seasons at Olympique Lyon, having previously worn the shirt of París Saint-Germain. She’s met Barça in Champions League encounters while playing for both clubs.
Tall and characteristically long-haired, Hamraoui is a strong, hard-hitting midfielder who is especially strong in the air and with shots from long range.
Statements from Kheira Hamraoui
“Barça is a great, ambitious club and that’s why I wanted to come here”.
“It’s a team that has progressed over the years. When I played them with PSG (2016) they had nothing to do with the team that played Lyon this season. It was much harder for us and that shows what progress they are making. They tend to keep possession longer than other teams. We don’t play that way in France, only here”.
“They have a different style of play and I want to win trophies here at FC Barcelona. My physicality and aggressiveness should help them. I also think I’m taller than most of them and that will help to have more physical impact”.
