Speaking after Monday’s board meeting, FC Barcelona spokesman Josep Vives announced that Fran Sánchez will be the coach of the women’s first team for the next two seasons, through to 2019, with the option of one further season.
Born in Barcelona on 27 October 1977, Sánchez coached teams in the Barça youth system from 1997 to 2012 before leaving to be technical director of the Bahrain national team for two years and also to work as assistant manager at Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
