Leo Messi spoke to the media at a publicity event on Friday, and here are some of the top comments made by the Barça star, fresh from adding yet another goal to this season’s account in the Copa del Rey quarter final victory against Espanyol.
On the Espanyol game:
“Things have gone well for us until now. We overcame a difficult test against Espanyol. We had to come back from behind and it wasn’t easy. But we did it and we’re through to the semi-finals. I’m happy with things so far, but there’s still a long way to go.”
On the arrivals of Philippe Coutinho and Yerry Mina:
“We have been interested in signing both of them since the summer. Mascherano left and we have immediately brought in a new centre back as a replacement. We’re happy to have him here.”
On Ernesto Valverde:
“He’s been very clear about what he wanted from the team since the day he came. We adapted very quickly to what he asked us to do, although it wasn’t all that different to what we were doing before. But we have got a lot better at defending and in attack we have a lot of players that are proving decisive.”
On squad rotations:
“Those are Valverde’s decisions. I have no problem rotating just like all my team-mates.”
On chasing three major trophies:
“We always aim to win everything we play for. Fortunately, we’re on the right track. We’ll try to win the lot. Hopefully this season will end the right way.”
