When we talk about Lionel Messi, it’s not difficult to remember any stadium in the First Division that hasn’t suffered at his feet and, at the same time, surrendered to his genius. One of these is Ipurua, where the Argentinian has put on an exhibition each time he’s played there. In Messi’s three visits to Eibar with FC Barcelona, his spectacular plays will remain etched in the memory of football fans forever.
These exhibitions have always been underscored by goals, and Barça have always come away with three points. Three visits, three wins: 0-2 in the 2014/15 season and 0-4 in both 2015/16 and 2016/17. Ten goals in favour, five of which were from Messi, and which included two braces. Furthermore, the No.10 has scored in every match against Eibar, including at the Camp Nou. With a total of 12 in six games, he is the player with most goals against the Basque team.
His outstanding performances have also been accompanied by similar excellence from Ter Stegen, especially last year. In addition to the ten goals scored in the three duels at Eibar, Barça have never conceded.
