Pedri gets it back

The ball likes Pedri and Pedri likes to have the ball. The man from the Canary Islands loves to be in possession and when he does not have the ball, the first thing on his mind is to win it back. The statistics show that the midfielder has won the ball back 166 times in La Liga, more than any other player in the division, and more times than Pedri has ever managed in a season with 10 games of the campaign still to go. 

Pedri is the complete midfielder. In Hansi Flick's team he keeps the ball moving, he scores and he creates goals. Furthermore, this season he has won the ball back 166 times in 26 matches. His closest rival in La Liga is Valencia's Christian Mosquera with 147 in 27 games with Mallorca's Johan Mojica just behind on 141 in 26 matches. 

Classy winning it back 

Pedri wins the ball back, but he is not your typical destructive central midfielder, far from it. This season the man from Tenerife has committed just nine fouls playing for Barça in the league, the third fewest of players with more than 25 games in La Liga. 

If we look amongst the five top leagues in Europe, we find Premier League midfielders Ryan Christie and Moisés Caicedo just ahead of Pedri. Bournemouth's Scottish midfielder is on 172 and the Ecuadorian from Chelsea on 170. However, both have nine yellow cards this season in the league, whereas Pedri has been booked just twice. Scoring, creating and winning the ball back - Pedri can do it all.
