It is fair to day that Fermín López had not had the season he would have wanted before Sunday's visit of Valencia. The Barça number 16 was injured twice in the month of September, keeping him out of action for a month and a half. Last season's statistics of 11 goals and one assist seemed far away but against Carlos Corberán's team at the Estadi Olímpic, Fermín kick started his campaign with two goals and two assists.
First time in the 24/25 season
Fermín achieved something no other player has been able to do so far this season: score twice and create two assists in the same game.
1,916 days later
The last Barça player to achieve such a feat was none other than Leo Messi. On 29 October 2019, the Argentine scored twice and provided two assists in a game against Valladolid which ended a 5-1 win for the blaugranes at Spotify Camp Nou. 5 years and 89 days later, Fermín replicated the Barça legend's achievement.
Magical match
Aside from scoring and assists, the midfielder impressed in other areas against Valencia. He completed 57 of 65 passes, 4 of 5 dribbles and won 50% of his duels, 8 from 16. A perfect evening for Fermín López.
