There is no time to lose in the league for Barça after a run of disappointing recent results. The blaugranes have slipped to third in the table behind Atlético Madrid and leaders Real Madrid, and Hansi Flick's team cannot afford to drop many more points, starting with the visit of Valencia on Sunday in La Liga.
In his pre-game press conference on Saturday, Barça coach Hansi Flick cast his eye over his team's next opponents: "Valencia have improved a lot in defence and they know what they are doing. We have to create chances and it will not be easy. It's really important to win every game and that's the attitude we have to have going out on the field." Flick will be hoping his team can carry over their impressive form this month in other competitions after the Super Cup final win over Real Madrid and the recent comeback victory in Lisbon against Benfica in the Champions League.
"It may seem that in the league we have not been at 100%, and that is something we have to change and be switched on from the start," said Flick. The German coach refused to give any clues about his starting line up for the game in the Estadi Olímpic, Barça's first home league game of 2025.
This week there has been good news for Hansi Flick with both Ronald Araujo and Gerard Martín agreeing new contracts. "The Club and Deco are doing a great job. We are looking for new players, but the most important thing is to talk with the ones we have, they are really important and that is what we are doing. I really like the way that Deco manages the squad," concluded Flick.
