Cartagena 4-3 Barça: No Super Cup final

It was not to be for Tino Pérez's side in the Spanish Super Cup, as the blaugranes went down to a 4-3 defeat against a Cartagena side playing on front of their own fans. Barça had chances to take the semi-final victory and led 3-2 with less than 10 minutes to go. However, goals from Darío and Cortés in the space of a minute turned the encounter the home side's way. 

Lead before half time 

The early chances in the encounter fell to Cartagena, but Barça slowly got themselves into the encounter. Sergio González went close before Mellado for Cartagena and then Pito for Barça struck the woodwork. It was the home side, however, who took the lead just before the break, Pablo Ramírez making it 1-0 on the counter. 

Barça reaction 

In the second half two goals in quick succession put Barça in front - Antonio and then a solo effort from Touré. Osamanmusa brought Cartagena level again, but Martel with a well placed shot at the near post put Barça back in front with just seven minutes remaining. 

When it appeared Barça were heading to the final, Cartagena ripped up the script. First Darío then Cortés found the net to put the home side 4-3 in front, and then it was the turn of keeper Chemi to keep the blaugranes at bay. Pito, Martel and Touré were all denied as Barça looked for the goal to take it to penalties, but Cartagena stood firm to book their place in the final.
