Hansi Flick: 'I promise we will fight for everything'

Despite being suspended for the final game of his two game ban, Barça coach Hansi Flick decided to face the media himself after his team's 2-1 defeat at home to Atlético Madrid on Saturday. The Barça coach admitted he was very "disappointed" to have lost the side's final game of 2024, but at the same time, he maintained that his team had "played a brilliant game, above all in the first half", maintaining that this type of performance would lead them to success. 

"That's how we want to play. We have to take this into next year and get better results. We will work and train hard," said Flick as he made the distinction between this latest defeat and the two previous reverses against Las Palmas and Leganés, saying he was "proud" of his players. 

"If we don't create chances then that is a problem, but today we did create them. They defended well, but we had chances that we would normally take. We have to learn from game like today, but I have nothing bad to say about how we played."

"Maybe the break has come at a good time for us. Everyone needs it." 

Flick highlighted the performances of Pedri and Gavi against Atlético, and despite recent setbacks, the coach is still happy in his role as Barça coach. " Nothing has changed. When I am driving to work at 6.30am, I do so happily. When I am at the training sessions I am happy because I am coaching excellent players who love to work hard and compete - the connection I have with them is brilliant."

"I can promise you that we will fight for everything, every game, every point. That's our goal and the players are ready for it."
