Barça 44-30 Benidorm: Perfect week

Two from two, as the Barça handball team earn their second ASOBAL league win of the week to remain unbeaten. A lively Palau Blaugrana watched on as the blaugranes won 44-30 against Benidorm. Aleix Gómez and Frade led the scoring.

FC Barcelona went ahead first, going on to lead by +3. The visitors were attacking with seven but it wasn't until the 12 minutes when they made the most of home errors to tie (7-7). Parity was short-lived however, as Carlos Ortega's side shared out the goals to go +4 (13-9, min 17).

Up through the gears...

A strong scoring spree plus interventions from Emil Nielsen saw the lead grow to eight (22-14, min 29). Half-time score 23-15 after a half in which Petrus made the most of attack with seven to score, with Luis Frade, Hampus Wanne and Blaz Janc making great contributions.

...to reach the winning post

Not long after the restart, the blaugrana lead was +9 and continuing to grow, and Benidorm even played with no keeper to try to come back (28-17, min 38). They did to some extent, clawing it back to +7, but Barça weren't going to let the chance of a second win in 48 hours slip away, final score 44-30.

Next up, Nantes visit the Palau Blaugrana on 21 November (8.45pm) to put Barça to the test.
