Last night, Catalan-speaking penyes were able to attend the first of three sessions scheduled on the topic of FC Barcelona's 125th anniversary.
It was attended by Josep-Ignasi Macià, member of the Board of Directors, responsible for the Social Area; David Carabén, commissioner for the 125th anniversary; Míriam Nadal, Head of current affairs at Barça One, Anna Aznar, Director of the Social Area and Enric Bosch, Head of the Penyes Department.
Macià thanked the people who connected to this Online Participatory Session and stressed that, after the good experience of last season and the good response from the supporters' clubs, they wanted to continue holding these sessions. In addition, the Board of Directors feels it is very important to have direct contact with all the official Barça penyes. The director, after reviewing the current state of affairs at FC Barcelona, also stressed that the celebration of the 125th anniversary is a very special and important milestone for everyone.
In his section, Carabén highlighted that the penyes perfectly represent how there are many ways of being a Barça fan and that it is a source of pride to have a supporters' club movement like the one the club has. The commissioner was able to explain in person the core aspects of the celebration of this important anniversary. He highlighted five fundamental areas that make Barça so special: that it is owned by its members, that we are a multi-sport club, that we have our own style of play, the widely admired Masia and a historic identification with Catalonia.
He also described some of the events that are taking place throughout the season, such as the presentation of the 125th anniversary poster, the selection of a song that will become the anniversary anthem and the grand gala at the Liceu on November 29.
For her part, Míriam Nadal invited attendees to follow the different programmes on Barça One for the anniversary. The next episode of the video podcast "La Llotja del 125" will premiere on November 14, during which the three finalist songs will be heard for the first time. On November 29, Barça One will broadcast the gala live, which will feature many illustrious Barça guests.
She also revealed that on November 29th a congratulatory video will be released featuring several penyes from around the world. A photography contest for penyes will also be launched on this date, and there will also be a walk to Montserrat that everyone is invited to join.
The next online participatory sessions for penyes will be on November 19th (session in Spanish) and November 27th (session in English and Spanish).
