The Palau is a stronghold for Joan Peñarroya's team as they dispatched Baskonia 91-68 in the Euroleague on Friday. The victory was an important one after Barça's recent defeat in Athens against Olympiacos and it leaves the blaugranes in the leading positions in the table in the regular season.
Before the game Kevin Punter received his October MVP award from the Euroleague after a series of impeccable performances last month.
Vesely and Parker spark Barça
The home side began the game focused with Vesely and Parker leading the way. The pair scored seven points each in the opening quarter and the blaugranes soon raced into a 15-2 lead with 5 minutes gone. Baskonia reacted and pulled it back to 26-17 at the end of the first period.
A solid second quarter was enough to give Peñarroya's team a comfortable 44-33 lead at the break. A margin of around 10 points was the order of the day regarding Barça's lead and the home side led 62-51 with just a quarter remaining.
Victory never in doubt
The result was never in doubt and in the fourth quarter and in the final period Joel Parra made his comeback for the blaugranes after two months out due to injury. In the end the Palau celebrated a 91-68 win for Barça to take their record to 6 wins and 2 defeats in the Euroleague this season.
