Four stats to be proud of

Four stats to be proud of

Four goals scored, but the blaugranes can also take pride in four stats after the win at the Bernabéu stadium

Pretty hard to forget a night like 26 October 2024. There have been other big wins at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, but the 0-4 achieved by Hansi Flick's side feels a bit special. The win seems to shift the momentum from a traditional rival who had won the most recent Clásicos, and it was also a first El Clásico win for many players part of what may prove an era-defining generation at Can Barça.

Six starters aged under 22 years old

There are many takeaways from the win, but here are four, one for each goal. The first simply has to be a starting eleven with no fewer than six players aged under 22 years old. Five La Masía players (Cubarsí, Balde, Fermín, Casadó and Lamine Yamal) and Pedri lined up at kick-off for a match in a setting such as the Bernabéu stadium. It was even Marc Casadó's first El Clásico appearance. And just like in the game against Bayern, he crowned his opportunity with an assist that will live long in the memory.

A week to shift the momentum

It's been a while since a week like this for the blaugranes. In the space of just four days, Flick's Barça have despatched Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, scoring four against both opponents. More importantly, these were major wins in the Champions League and LaLiga that shifted the momentum in both cases. The previous win against Bayern Munich came back in 2015, with six straight defeats since. The run against Real Madrid was four losses in a row. Both runs now curtailed.

305 goals in Clásicos

The stats show that Real Madrid and Barça are the two most successful sides in LaLiga history, and there really isn't much to choose between them when it comes to matches between the sides. Real Madrid lead for wins (101 v 105), after a pretty dismal run for the blaugranes in recent years, but the 0-4 victory at the Bernabéu stadium turned the tide, while also seeing Barça move ahead to become highest scorers in LaLiga Clásicos (305 v 304).

The record remains blaugrana

Not a new record, but FC Barcelona remain outright leaders when it comes to a run of consecutive unbeaten LaLiga matches. They went 43 games without defeat across the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons. Real Madrid had gone 42 undefeated, and a win or a draw in El Clásico could have brought them level, but it wasn't to be and the record remains blaugrana.
