Lewandowski: What a start!

Lewandowski: What a start!

FC Barcelona's Polish striker leads the goalscoring in Europe's five biggest leagues in 2024/25

Robert Lewandowski has hit fine form this season. In 894 minutes of football played so far in La Liga and the Champions League, he has already scored 12 times.

That puts him ahead of every other player in Europe's five biggest leagues, one ahead of Manchester City's Erling Haaland, who has also started brilliantly with 11 goals.

Pichichi

Ten of Lewandowski's goals have come in the league, and he's way out in front of the chase to win the top goalscorer award (the Pichichi), with Ayoze Pérez of Villarreal second with six.

Amazingly, this is not his strongest ever start to a campaign. In 2015/16 and 2019/20 he had scored 13 by this stage. In 2020/21 he also got 12 and in 2021/22 he had ten. All four of those seasons were in his Bayern Munich days.

Since coming to Barça in the summer of 2022, Lewandowski has scored 71 goals in 106 games across all competitions. He's also given 19 assists.

Ewa Pajor makes it Polish double

There's a very strong Polish connection to FC Barcelona at the moment. Because not only is Lewandowski leading the way in the men's team, but his compatriot Ewa Pajor is doing likewise for the women. The new signing has scored 6 goals in the first 5 games of the Liga F and is currently the top scorer in that competition.
