Hansi Flick: 'Everyone is ready and wants to play'

The German coach assessed the opponent and the young players' role during his first press conference for Europe's premier club competition

Barça are ready to make their debut in this season's Champions League and so is Flick. The German coach attended the prematch conference and assured that "the players have the quality to play at a higher standard" despite the tremendous level shown during the start of the current LaLiga season.

On the rematch with AS Monaco

AS Monaco managed to defeat Barça during preseason, no less in the Joan Gamper trophy game, and the blaugranes don't want to be defeated again. The FC Barcelona coach stated that although they face a great opponent tomorrow, "now it's a new situation, we have the Champions League now" and "everyone is ready and wants to play", while showing his respect for his counterpart Adi Hutter.

On the young players in the CL squad

Hansi Flick believes in the blaugrana philosophy in order to win the game, stating "we are good with the ball and also without the ball, and this is the key to our success". Of course, it's the young players who know it best and in fact, there are 16 and 17 year old players in the squad, with the coach going on to say that "when we need someone the quality doesn't fall" and that "La Masia is the identity of this Club".

Ansu Fati's return and injuries

The German is happy to have Ansu Fati back, but he has also lost Fermín and Dani Olmo to injury. Despite the circumstances, Flick explained that "we go step by step with the players after injury, it's very important".
