The excellent start to the season by FC Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has not gone unnoticed. A goal and four assists in his four appearances so far this season for Barça have left the 17 year old top of the rankings for the Golden Boy award for the best player in Europe aged 21 or under.
The award is organised by the Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport, with help of Football Benchmark, the data and analysis experts who compile the rankings for the prize. The current list was updated on 2 September and finds Lamine Yamal in top spot.
Lamine Yamal is closely followed in the most recently released rankings by Paris Saint-Germain's João Neves and Manchester United player Alejandro Garnacho. The next update to the list will see the 25 finalists revealed at an event in Rome, Italy in October.
