Four Spanish blaugrana players in the Euro 24 final

Now the first Euro 24 semi-final has ended, featuring blaugranas with both Spain and France, it's Spain who have booked their place in the final this coming Sunday at 9.00pm CEST at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. This also means that four FC Barcelona players have qualified, with Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Ferran Torres and Fermín still in the hunt for continental glory, while Jules Kounde fell just short.

Either England or the Netherlands will be the opponent in the final and last hurdle to becoming European Champions, which is only 90 (or 120) minutes away. That year they lost 2-0 to France. The next time involved the golden generation of Spanish football, who won back-to-back in 2008 and 2012. The first saw Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernández and Andrés Iniesta form the spine of Luís Aragonés' team. Four years later, with Vicente del Bosque now coach, Xavi and Iniesta were there again, Puyol missed out due to injury, but Pedro Rodríguez, Sergio Busquets, Víctor Valdés, Gerard Piqué and Cesc Fábregas were all included, the latter having also won in 2008 when he was an Arsenal player.

That's 17 different names, to which Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Ferran and Fermín can be added, bringing the total to 21. Whether or not they play in the final, all four will also be looking to join that list of winners.
