FC Barcelona athletics is in the spotlight again with triple jumper Jordan Díaz claiming the European title in Rome with a spectacular of 18 metres and 18 centimetres.
The 23 year old track and field athlete took the gold medal with a jump that smashed the Spanish national record, much to the surprise of Díaz himself.
After seeing defending champion Pedro Pichardo of Portugal leap out to 18.04m in the second round, Díaz responded in the fifth with a jump that is the third longest in history, only 11cm behind Jonathan Edwards' mark of 18.29cm which has stood for 29 years.
Jordan Díaz's amazing form means that he is now one of the favourites for Olympic glory in Paris this summer in the men's triple jump.
