Fourth in a row and fifth in six years

This Barça side are spoiling us. The blaugranes have reached the European tournament final for four years in a row. In fact, it's now five finals in six years, a feat only achievable by the continent's best teams. Two trophies have been won to date.

Target: a third

The main aim is to win the trophy, but did you know that Barça would be third for most trophies won if they did just that? They are currently tied on two with Wolfsburg, Umea and Postdam. A third win would take them into third place outright, just one behind Frankfurt with four and leaders Olympique Lyonnais Féminin with eight.

The San Mamés stadium will play host to the third Women's Champions League final played in Spain. The 2010 final was played at Getafe's stadium, the Coliseum, and the pandemic-affected 2020 season finale was held at Real Sociedad's ground, the Reale Arena.

"La Catedral" is fully sold out. The UEFA Women's Champions League official channel reported that all 53,289 seats in San Mamés have been sold. As such, a wonderful atmosphere befitting a European competition final is expected.

Record for Giráldez

Since assuming the reins in July 2021, the Galician coach has been an ever-present at Champions League finals, as his Barça side have reached the final in every season. Turin in 2022, Eindhoven in 2023 and now Bilbao in 2024. The feat means the coach has equalled the record for consecutive finals reached by a coach.

For Sonia Bompastor too

Sonia Bompastor became the first person to win the Champions League as both coach and player two years ago when her side defeated Barça 3-1 in Turin. The Frenchwoman is aiming to do the same again this year and achieve her second trophy as a coach.

Blaugrana domination of the 23/24 edition

This season's competition has been tinged with blaugrana, as this Barça side have had the most possession, best pass accuracy, and most clean sheets. The blaugranes are also out in front in the attacking metrics, with no fewer than five players making the top 10 for attacking creativity, led by Aitana (74), Graham (70) and Mariona (66).

Last decade's dominant force

Barça may be prominent this decade, but Lyon dominated the 10 years before. Their squad includes the competition's all-time top scorer in Ada Hegerberg (64), the highest appearance maker in Wendie Renard (115), and also the player who has provided the most assists in Marozsan with 29.

Trophy collectors

Should they be crowned champions, some space will need to be made in the Barça Museum and Alexia Putellas' respective trophy cabinets. The captain would win her 30th trophy as a blaugrana, the most among the squad, while the Club would have accumulated the 47th premier European club trophy won by its professional sports teams.
