Barça back up to second in the league

FC Barcelona did what they had to do on Monday against Real Sociedad to reclaim the second place in La Liga that they lost a week ago in Montilivi against Girona. Xavi's team now sit on 76 points, one ahead of Míchel's team with three games of the season left to play. 

Nine points to play for 

If the blaugranes win their trio of remaining fixtures than second place and a spot in next season's Spanish Super Cup will be assured. Their opponents will be Almería, Rayo and Sevilla with only the game against the team from Vallecas to be played in the Estadi Olímpic. 

Girona, for their part, take on Villarreal, Valencia and Granada with only the fixture in Mestalla being away from home. Atlético Madrid are on 70 points and still have a remote mathematical chance of being second but they need to win all their remaining games and hope Girona and Barça slip up on multiple occasions.
