Spotify Camp Nou developing nicely

Work on the new stadium has entered a new phase and the foundations of the new third tier should be complete within the next fortnight

The total overhaul of Spotify Camp Nou is still on schedule to be complete by November 2024, ready to welcome back the supporters to their real home. Following several months of digging and demolishing, with the iconic 1957 under protective covering, the actual construction phase is now in full motion.

The foundations of the third tier should be ready within the coming fortnight, and some of the pillars in the South Goal and Lateral zones are already in view. Of the six cranes that will be operating on site, three are already in action and the fourth will be ready soon, which will be positioned on the grandstand forecourt. These have been specially shipped in from Kuwait because they need to be 85 metres over basement level, and their booms are 85m long too. Cranes can usually carry around 10 tons, but these ones can bear 12 times as much, an incredible 120 tons.

Work on the first and second tiers is also coming along nicely. More than 45% of the repair of the current structure is complete and work is being done on the recovery of parts of the original 1957 structure that are to be re-used, such as element from the boulevard, the GAP (between the current terrace and the facade of the new stadium) and others. The walls between the South Goal area and Travessera de les Corts, and between the North Goal zone and Avinguda Joan XXIII are already complete as planned, and work is being done on the underground parking area beneath the stadium.

By late January, there will be around 1,000 people working on the Spotify Camp Nou, the even more will be expected once work on the new facade is in full progress.
