Cup champions Jaén faced league winners Barça in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup in which the blaugranes came out on top to take a 2-1 and a place in Sunday's final. Jaén took the lead in the first half but goals from Sergio and Pito after the break put the blaugranes in line for a shot at the trophy.
The Andalusians took the lead early on in the first half despite Barça having the better chances early on. In the 7th minute of the contest César Velasco took advantage of a rebound after a save from Barça keeper Freixas to put Jaén ahead.
Barça had chances in the remainder of the half, as did their opponents, but it was Jaén who took their 1-0 lead into the break.
The second half did not begin well for the blaugranes when Matheus Rodríguez was sent off for a second yellow card. Nevertheless, just a few minutes later Barça were on level terms. Sergio González made it 1-1 taking advantage of a loose ball near the Jaén goal.
Despite the numerical disadvantage a goal from Pito made it 2-1 on 36 minutes to seal the win and book Barça's place in Sunday's final against Jimbee Cartagena, winner of the other semi-final against Mallorca Palma Futsal.
