FC Barcelona 82-83 BAXI Manresa: First defeat at the Palau

BAXI Manresa won the Catalan derby and in doing so became the first team to win at the Palau Blaugrana this season. With just four seconds to go, Dani Garcia converted a free throw to seal a one-point win for the visitors.

Spurred by the brilliant Brandon Taylor and Travante Williams, the visitors quickly made it apparent why they are so high up in the table this season, and by the end of the first period, Barça found themselves trailing by ten (14-24).

Barça's defensive pressure started to have much more effect in the second period. With Willy Hernangómez and Jokubaitis leading the offensive plays, Da Silva making his presence felt on the paint at both ends, and Parra outstanding in defence, a 9-point streak meant Barça were right back in contention by the break (36-39).

The third period was all about Satoransky. The Czech guard was everywhere and scored 8 points in less than 6 minutes to help Barça finally get back level. With Laprovittola also plugged in, Barça now looked on course for the win, but Manresa regrouped and Devin Robinson, who had barely made his presence felt all game, suddenly came into his own and led his side back into a 5-point lead going into the final period (60-65).

This was a cracking game of hoops, with Barça then hitting back with a tremendous 17-6 streak to go +6. This game had been swinging back and forth with verve, but surely now it was all over? No, it wasn't. Manresa had other ideas. What had looked like a heroic blaugrana revival was thwarted, and the visitors ended up claiming Barça's first league defeat at home this season (82-83).
