Yulimar Rojas named Women's World Athlete of the Year for Field Events
The FC Barcelona athlete ends 2023 as Central American Games champions and winner of the Budapest World Championships in the triple jump

Once again, Yulimar Rojas has had a memorable year in the world of track and field athletics. The FC Barcelona athlete's excellent 2023 was recognised as Women's World Athlete of the Year for Field Events at the World Athletics 2023 Awards after a season in which she retained her world outdoor world title in Budapest amongst other achievements.

The Venezuelan world record holder in the triple jump retained her world title in 2023 with a dramatic last round jump of 15.08m to take her fourth outdoor World Championship gold in the event. Rojas also claimed gold in the Centeal American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador and took the 2023 Diamond League title, sealing her victory with a world leading leap for the year of 15.35m in an Diamond League event in Eugene, Oregon in the USA.
More challenges are ahead for the record breaking athlete as Yulimar Rojas now has her sights on defending the Olympic title she won in Tokyo in 2021 in next summer's 2024 games in Paris.
