La Masia receives 'Training Values' award from newspaper 'Sport'

The FC Barcelona youth system is recognised at the 6th edition of the Sport Values Gala

More recognition for La Masia as the blaugranes’ youth system has won the ‘Training Values’ award given out by Catalan sports newspaper Sport.

The award was received on Tuesday 14 November in Madrid at the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee as part of the sixth edition of the Sporting Values Gala. As such, the development work and the values set out by FC Barcelona were highlighted by receiving one of the twelve awards given out this year. The award’s organisers recognised the efforts to “promote values such as effort, perseverance, solidarity, discipline and the ability to overcome obstacles,” via La Masia.

FC Barcelona were represented at the award by Rafa Yuste, sporting vice president, José Ramón Alexanco, director of Youth Football at FC Barcelona, and Andrei Xépkin, La Masia director.

A player who himself is a product of La Masia, Dani Olmo, received an award. The current RB Leipzig forward was rewarded with the Solidarity Values Award. The Girona coach, Míchel Sánchez, María Pérez García, Álvaro Marín, Iris Tió Casas and Gisela Pulido were amongst other prize winners, alongside, of course, La Masia at FC Barcelona.
