This season's sensation Lamine Yamal has set a new record after coming on as a substitute against Real Madrid in the LaLiga clash at the Estadi Olímpic on Saturday. Already the youngest player ever to appear and score for Barça in La Liga, the teenager is now the youngest player ever to appear in a Clásico at the age of 16 years and 107 days.
Vicenç Martínez, another blaugrana prodigy
The record beaten by Lamine Yamal on Saturday was previously held by defender Vicenç Martínez. The left back appeared for FC Barcelona in a Clásico against Real Madrid in the 1940/41 season at the age of 16 years and 280 days. The game was played in the Chamartín stadium in Madrid and ended in a 4-3 win for the home side, but is most memorable for the first of seven appearances made that season as a blaugrana by teenager Martínez.
This century, Ansu Fati
The youngest player to appear in a Clásico since the turn of the century had been none other than Ansu Fati at the age of 17 years and 48 days. The striker, now at Premier League club Brighton, is followed by some illustrious names on the list with Gavi just behind (17 years and 80 days), then come Bojan Krkic (17 years and 117 days), Pedri (17 years and 334 days) and Ilaix Moriba (18 years and 81 days). Now that list is also headed by Lamine Yamal with many more records surely to come this season.
