Women's FC Barcelona v Real Madrid to be played at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys

The game was originally going to be played at Estadi Johan Cruyff, but tickets sold so quick that it's moved the the bigger venue

The FC Barcelona women's team will be playing at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys for the first time this coming Sunday 19 November at noon, and they'll be doing so in the Liga F Clásico against Real Madrid Femenino. The game was originally going to be played at the Estadi Johan Cruyff but the tickets sold out so fast that the game is now going to be played at the same stadium that the men are using until November 2024, the same place that recently gave the women's a heartfelt tribute following the amazing achievements by its players at the World Cup.

It's not the first time that a women's Clásico has been switched to a bigger stage. The Champions League quarter final on 30 March 2022 was played at Spotify Camp Nou and attracted what was at the time a world record crowd of 91,553 for a women's game, the Catalans winning the the match 5-2.

Holding the game in the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys naturally presents a wonderful opportunity for fans to come along and support the team in what promises to be yet another momentous occasion.

Tickets sales and relocation

Tickets are on sale to the general public for between €19 and €56, with a 30% discount for members, with each member assigned a ticket bearing their name.

Anyone who purchased one of the tickets for the sold out Estadi Johan Cruyff will get a ticket instead for the new venue, with the guarantee of the same or better seating conditions than originally offered, namely grandstand, touchline or corner. If you are unable to come to the Estadi Olímpic, then you can get a reimbursement of the price paid for your ticket for the Johan Cruyff.

Record-breaking project

The Barça women's team are a global sensation after winning the Champions League twice and utterly dominating the Liga F.

They have now played six games in Spotify Camp Nou, beating their own world record when 91,648 people watched the semi-final against Wolfsburg, and attracting 382,800 people to those half dozen fixtures. The club has also set records for gate takings, with 2.7 million euros generated in the 2022/23 season. In total, the women's football team raised 7.8 million euros last term, a 95% increase on 2021/22. And e-commerce has been another important growth area, rising 47% last season, and especially in the women's clothing sector, where growth was an immense 275%.
