Lamine Yamal became the youngest goalscorer of all time in La Liga thanks to his goal in first half injury time at Granada on Sunday. Aged just 16 years and 87 days, he has beaten the record held by Fabrice Olinga of Malaga that one would have imagined would survive for decades. It came in the nick of time, for Yamal only had 11 days to break the record and with an international break coming up, this was his last chance to do it.
Also beats Ansu Fati
Obviously that means Yamal has also topped Ansu Fati to become the youngest goalscorer in Barça's league history. He had a much bigger margin to get that record, for Ansu was 16 years and 304 days old when he scored against Osasuna in 2019.
All-time Barça record from 1921
But it was not the youngest competitive goal for Barça. That record is held by Armand Martínez Sagi, who was a staggeringly young 14 days, 10 months and 7 days old in 1921 when he scored twice against Avenç in the Catalan Championship. Also, the legendary Paulino Alcántara was just 15 years, 4 months and 18 days old when he scored in the same competition in 1912.
Champions League records too
Lamine Yamal became Barça's second youngest Champions League debutant against Royal Antwerp earlier this season (also beating Ansu Fati), and the second youngest for any team (topped only by Youssoufa Moukoko).
And the other days against Porto, Lamine Yamal became the youngest player ever to start a Champions League game. If he can score in this year's edition, then there will yet more records against this amazing starlet's name. Words fail!
