Six years after leaving as a player, it was on 20 November 2021 that Xavi Hernández took charge of the FC Barcelona first team for the first time in a derby against Espanyol, winning it 1-0. The team hadn't got off to the best of starts, lying ninth in the table after 13 games, but under the new coach, there was soon a change for the better.
Now against FC Porto he will be taking the main seat in the dugout for the 100th time, having amassed 63 wins, 18 draws and just 19 defeats (and none in the present season), with his side scoring 191 goals and conceding 95, collecting the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga trophies on the way.
Lewandowski top scorer
Robert Lewandowski leads the way with 39 of those goals, followed by Ferran Torres with 18 and Pedri and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with 13 each. Benzema, with 6, has scored the most against Barça in the same period.
Real Madrid 7 times
Of those 99 games, a staggering seven have been against Real Madrid, the balance being four Barça wins and three losses. The second most common opponent has been Betis, six times, which is also the team that Xavi's Barça has scored the most against, no fewer than 15 after the 5-0 victory a few weeks ago.
