Aitana Bonmatí also to be honoured individually for being named UEFA Women’s Player of the Year

This Friday sees the men's team take on Sevilla at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys for the LaLiga matchday eight fixture (kickoff 9pm CEST), but a very special tribute is set to take place beforehand. Organised to honour the women's team players who featured at the recent World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, they are set to appear to receive deserved applause from every blaugrana member and fan in the stadium.

No fewer than ten of Jonatan Giráldez' players were part of the teams that finished in first, second and third place. Fridolina Rolfö came third with Sweden, Lucy Bronze and Keira Walsh were runners up with England, and Irene Paredes, Salma Paralluelo, Mariona Caldentey, Alexia Putellas, Cata Coll, Aitana Bonmatí and Ona Batlle were all crowned World Cup winners with Spain, a landmark moment for women's sport.

Furthermore, Asisat Oshoala, Caroline Graham Hansen, Ingrid Engen, Esmee Brugts and Giulia Dragoni were all involved in the World Cup for their respective countries.

Midfielder Aitana Bonmatí will also be honoured individually, after being named MVP of the World Cup, before also being named UEFA Women’s Player of the Year on 31 August.
