Lewandowski still firing

Three goals in the last three games have boosted the Pole's overall tally in blaugrana to 36

Robert Lewandowski did it again. Against Betis we once again saw him with his trademark clenched fists together after he scored for the third time in as many games.

He's certainly silenced the critics who thought something was wrong when he didn't score in either of Barça's first two outings. Nobody scores in every single game, but the 36 times that the Pole has struck in just 51 games for Barça (0.7 a game) is the kind of stat reserved only for the very best.

In fact, since the start of the 2022/23 season, only two players have outscored Lewy in Europe's top five leagues, namely Erling Haaland, with 59 goals in 59 games for Manchester City, and Kylian Mbappé, with 48 goals in 47 games for PSG. The Barça man is tied for third with Harry Kane for Spurs and now Bayern, who scored his 36 goals in slightly more games, 54.

Victor Osimhen of Napoli (34) and Lautaro Martínez of Inter (33) are next on the list.

Three out of three

Lewandowski has hit form with goals in each of his last three games against Villarreal, Osasuna and now Betis.

The only other players to string together three goalscoring performances in the continent's top five leagues are Maximilian Beier (Hoffenheim), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Serhou Guirassy (Stuttgart), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Kylian Mbappé (PSG) and former blaugrana Xavi Simons (Leipzig).
