12 from FC Barcelona into World Cup semis
There are just four teams left at the Womens World Cup and in three of them there are Barça players who'll be hoping to come home from Oceania with the trophy after a surprise-packed competition that has produced non-stop drama. But one thing hasn't changed. FC Barcelona are still clearly on top of the world when it comes to women's football.
No fewer than 12 blaugrana stars are still in the tournament, nine of them wearing the red jersey of Spain.
Playing before goalkeeper Cata Coll, who has started the last two games, are defenders Laia Codina, Irene Paredes and Ona Batlle, midfielders Alexia Putellas, Maria Pérez and Aitana Bonmatí, and strikers Mariona Caldentey and Salma Paralluelo, who scored the goals that saw off the much fancied Netherlands team in the quarter finals. It's practically the Barça team out there!
Spain now face Sweden on Tuesday at 10am CEST, who have Fridolina Rolfö as one of their main stars. The left back at Barça plays further up the field for her country, one that has seen off stiff opposition from the USA and Japan to get as far as they have.
The other semi final pits hosts Australia against bookies' favourites England, for whom Lucy Bronze and Keira Walsh are both mainstays. That game kicks off on Wednesday at 12pm CEST.
