Frenkie de Jong, Estrella MVP of Joan Gamper Trophy
"I felt good playing at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys" said Frenkie de Jong after winning the Estrella MVP award for his performance in the 4-2 defeat of Tottenham in the Joan Gamper Trophy. He was named by fans worldwide on the official FC Barcelona website.
He described this a a 'special' night, and there was certainly plenty special about the Dutch midfielder's delightful showing, on which he also commented that "I feel really comfortable playing alongside Oriol Romeu."
Having played such an important constructive role and in the breaking down of Tottenham's tight lines, he also made a contribution to the attack with a series of clinical passes. Estrella, of course, means star. And that was one stellar display from Frenkie that had much to do with the conquest of yet another Gamper.
