Goals 'made in' Brazil
Both tames made an intense start to the encounter but it was the home side Barça who struck first. Ferrao opened the scoring in the ninth minute, the blaugranes taking advantage of the red card for Jaén's Mati Rosa for a challenge on Coelho the previous minute.
The visitors came back at Barça with an equaliser from Menzeguez and at half time the game stood all square at 1-1.
In the second half Velasco's team asserted their superiority after an excellent save from Dídac Plana stopped Jaén from taking the lead. On 25 minutes Pito put them 2-1 up and three minutes later Matheus stretched their lead to two goals with an excellent finish.
Jaén sacrificed their goalkeeper and a goal from Chino just before the end gave them hope but Barça were able to hold them off for a key victory in the opening game of the series.
